See all 14 of Nepal's life insurers side by side — and decide for yourself.

The right policy is a promise to the people who depend on you — and it's worth getting right. Until now, comparing life insurance in Nepal meant visiting fourteen separate websites, or deciding from the one plan you were shown. Now you can see who pays claims, who's financially solid, and what it actually costs — in plain language, in about two minutes.

How we compare

We show the claims record first.

All 14 life insurers, in one view — scored on the numbers that decide whether a policy does its job. A low premium is worth little if the payout is the part that stalls.

Claims record, front and centre

We put each insurer's claim-settlement ratio in plain view — a core signal of who actually pays out when your family needs it most — weighed alongside financial strength and price.

Policy types

The main life insurance policy types in Nepal

Term gives the highest cover for the lowest premium — pure protection, no savings. Endowment and whole life build savings and return your money at the end. Money-back plans pay cash back at set intervals through the term.

These are the four our tools price. Nepal also regulates micro-insurance and foreign-employment term cover — both explained there, neither priced by our tools.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

By claim settlement ratio, Asian Life Insurance leads at 98.85%, with Sun Nepal Life (98.71%) and Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life (98.33%) close behind — figures from the latest Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) annual report. A high ratio matters: it means the company actually delivers when your family needs it most. But it is one factor among several — weigh it alongside financial strength and price. Term plans give you the most cover for the least money — pure protection, with no savings element. They tend to be recommended less often than savings-style plans like endowment, partly for a commercial reason: advisors usually earn more on endowment policies. That is not a knock on advisors — it is simply why we lay out the numbers openly, so you can weigh term against endowment on the facts before you sign. Read our Agent Guide →
Yes — Nepal's Income Tax Act lets you deduct up to NPR 40,000 in annual life insurance premiums from your taxable income. On the new FY 2083/84 slabs, the top rate is 29%, so that saves up to NPR 11,600 per year. All 14 life insurers and all policy types qualify. See the full tax deduction guide + free calculator →
For term insurance, IME Life Insurance is the lowest in our estimates — about NPR 14,500/year for Rs. 50L cover on a 20-year term at age 30. However, costs vary wildly by age. Use our premium calculator to compare all 14 life insurers side-by-side.
First, ask the insurer for a written rejection letter. If you believe the rejection is wrong, file a formal complaint with the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) — they have a dedicated Grievance Redressal Cell for exactly this. Know your full policyholder rights →
