Claim Settlement Ratio: Why #1 Here Is Genuinely Strong
An honest note on the number first. The NIA does not publish a per-company “claim settlement ratioHow reliably an insurer pays out claims, measured from claim amounts paid versus amounts outstanding. Higher is better. Full definition →.” It publishes two amounts for each insurer – claims paid and claims outstanding – and the 98.85% here is a ratio we derive from those (claims paid divided by claims paid plus outstanding). It is amount-based and excludes rejected claims, which the NIA does not break out per company.
With that caveat stated, Asian Life’s record is genuinely strong – not a quirk of the maths. In FY 2081/82 it paid Rs. 618.89 crore (about NPR 6.19 billion) in claims against only Rs. 7.18 crore left outstanding at year-end. That is one of the cleanest paid-to-outstanding balances in the market, and it improved year on year (98.49% to 98.85%). For a buyer who weighs claim reliability above all else, Asian Life is the benchmark – though no amount-based ratio can tell you settlement speed, so it is still fair to ask about timelines.

Compare All PlansMoney Back: Asian Moneyback-20 (flagship)
Returns a portion of the sum assured at fixed intervals during the term. Asian runs several money-back variants (Annual Repay Moneyback, 15 Yrs Money Back Plus, Asian Moneyback-20), so you can match the payout schedule to your needs.
A Note on Bonus Rates
Asian Life’s declared endowment bonus for FY 2081/82 is Rs. 45 to Rs. 62 per 1,000 sum assured (dual-sourced from Beemapost and Insurance Khabar). That is a modest range by market standards – several insurers declare higher endowment bonuses – so Asian’s appeal is reliability rather than peak bonus. Its whole-life and money-back plans carry their own declared rates; always confirm the bonus for the specific plan and term you are buying rather than a company headline.
